ASIANOVELAS OR TELENOVELAS??...

Asianovelas have been popular with the Filipino audience ever since Taiwan's Meteor Garden hit the airwaves back in 2002. Since then, a steady stream of shows from Taiwan, Korea, and Japan soon found its way to Philippine shores and started a new craze in local programming, quickly adding a few more slots in the telenovela fan's list of favorites. In just a few years, the Asianovela invasion successfully built a country-wide fan base.

"Asianovelas" are drama shows produced in Asian countries and, of course, the Philippines. The term is a spin-off from "Telenovela," which refers to the Spanish soap operas, like Marimar, that first entered the country.

How do Asianovelas differ from the Telenovelas that we have grown to love?

Asianovelas offer unique, straight-to-the-point, engaging storylines. We Filipinos can comfortably relate with Asianovelas for their traditional ways of story telling. Real-life situations are interpreted and delivered so gracefully, all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the story's unfolding.

The Asian stars with their chinky eyes and smooth complexion look foreign yet feel familiar. After all, especially in urban areas, we often see or interact with Chinese, Korean, and Japanese nationals. The actresses' pulchritude and the hunky yet lean frame of the handsome leading men in Asianovelas exude freshness. No sweaty-looking actors and over-sexy actresses, no long complicated plots.

Just say "F4" and we all know which Asianovela gets the Number One spot on this list. The F4 band caught our attention with their music and pretty-boy looks.

Meteor Garden, which sounds like a sci-fi project but is far from it, was first released in 2001 in Taiwan. It was based on a popular Japanese manga (comics) titled "Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers)."

So, which do you think has better story and good looking characters??..
you choose!..

P.S.
Please feel free to add your comments..
thanks!..

HAPPY BIRHTDAY 'GOY!!...

This is my uber friend grace. It’s her 18th birthday today! So this entry is dedicated to her. Well, grace and I met during our freshman year in PLM; she’s my classmate then, we did not became close right away because she has her own group of friends and I have mine. If I’m not mistaken, we became close because we are usually in the same group when we have group assignments or group tasks. Believe me; I can still remember those days. Grace and I are very much different; I think that’s why we click! We learn from each other without trying to change our personalities. Though we’re not classmates in our freshman second sem, we still keep in touch and do stuff together. And up to now, she’s still my best friend and I think that it will go a long way. (Oh I forgot) we call each other ‘goy, (can’t tell you what that means). Anyways, to my uber ‘GOY, HAPPY BIRHTDAY!!.. I wish you all the best for you and your family.

see you Later!.
Love Lots,.

CONFESSIONS OF BGF (Best Guy Friend)...

Early this morning (well 12:04 to be exact) my best guy friend texted that he and his girlfriend broke up (well, I’m the first person to know that they already broke up). I’m still up that time so I texted back. I was like, ‘ok is that for real?’ my friend’s girlfriend is actually my schoolmate, and I knew her even before they were together we’re not that close but we talk every time we cross paths in school. So I was really shocked when my friend told me the news. They were together for a year and a half and they’re relationship is legal for both parties, so I really think that they are a happy couple. After I texted back, my friend called me up, he told me everything, the whole story of their break-up. Well he’s very much upset ‘cause the reason for their break-up is so petty (sorry to everyone, but I can’t you). Anyways, he’s still in pain but then he told me that he should move on and just enjoy time for himself, his family and his friends after all those people will surely never let go of you.

P.S.
sorry J, I just publish your story,.hahaha,.
PEACE!,.

WHAT'S THE REAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FEELING USED AND FEELING USEFUL??...

hate feeling used; I love feeling useful.

Really, what’s the difference? In both cases I help someone. But one feels awful and the other feels great.

An intuitive answer is that you feel used when you’re not compensated and you feel useful when it’s a fair exchange. There’s something to this but it doesn’t jibe with the high value we put on being generous and giving selflessly. If “tis better to give than receive,” why would you feel used when you do just that?

Another intuitive answer is that you feel used when you give involuntarily and useful when you give voluntarily. There’s something to this also but the line between involuntary and voluntary is often not easy to draw. Yes, if forced at gunpoint you give what you are absolutely sure you don’t want to give, you are likely to feel used and not useful. Still, there are a lot of cases in the gray area between voluntary and involuntary. If you invest money in a venture based on an accurate but charismatic sales pitch about the venture’s prospects is that voluntary or involuntary? If it tanks, and you feel used, is that because you gave against your will? Would you still feel used if it succeeds gloriously?

FITTING IN AT SCHOOL...

Five tips for Fitting In at School

1. Old is a Relative Term
Old is a completely relative. Age is in the eye of the beholder, not to mention the heart.

The experience you bring to the classroom because of your age is part of what makes you such a bonus. Just don’t come off as a know-it-all or you’ll turn everyone off. Share your life experiences and wisdom, but be careful to give younger students time to think and participate. They may not be as quick as you to come up with examples and stories.

2. Keep Your Mind Wide Open
Go to class with a wide open mind. Beyond the obvious fashion and hair style shocks you might encounter from the younger generation, their lingo and social manners may surprise you. This surprise may come in the form of disgust, but remember that judgment gets us nowhere. Try being delighted by, or possibly amused (not ridiculing) by, at the very least, interested in, the generational differences you see. That “kid” in the low-riding pants with a stud through his tongue could become one of the most interesting friends you’ve ever had. Remember the age-old adage: you can’t judge a book by its cover.
Abraham Lincoln is famous for having said, “See that man over there. I don’t like him. I need to get to know him better.”

3. Don't Try to Be Buddies with the Teacher
Just because you’re the same age as the teacher, or quite possibly older, resist the normal temptation to buddy up to him or her. Become a good student first, and focus on relating to the other students. You’ll alienate your fellow students if you’re more interested in talking to the instructor than to them. Over time, your relationship with your teacher may very well become a friendship, but let your teacher decide when and if that’s appropriate.

4. Be Genuinely Yourself
Make friends not only with the other non-traditional students in your class, but with the younger students as well. You don’t have to try to be like them, just be interested in getting to know them. Just be yourself. There’s nothing more attractive than a genuine person who is genuinely interested in other people. Be more interested in learning about others than about telling your own story, and you’ll make friends easily.
Remember that a smile, one that shows in your eyes, is all you need to break the ice with another human being. Smile, say hello, and be more interested than interesting.

5. Become a Mentor
If your school has a mentoring program, consider becoming a mentor in the field of your expertise. You’ll be helping a younger person by sharing your wisdom, and you’ll feel more a part of the whole educational experience.

LIFE IS HARD. SOMETIMES IT JUST PLAIN SUCKS...

Our Constitution gives us the right to pursue happiness, but it doesn’t guarantee happiness. The Bible doesn’t promise us happiness either – at least not in this life.

I think happiness is something to be appreciated when you have it because it’s so elusive. Things don’t bring happiness. Most people know that, but they try collecting the hottest stuff anyway. Clothes, tech, music, and so on. Money is great when you really need something, but most of the things it buys don’t make you happy in the long run.

Having friends, especially if they’re real friends, is certainly better than having no friends. But you can’t count on other people for your happiness. Same with family, even a church and youth group.

When all is said and done, sometimes it’s just you and God. Sometimes everyone else is willing to let you fall through the cracks, ‘cuz they’re so busy with their own lives. We’re all so very selfish, myself included. It’s a wonder anything truly good ever happens. I think love (unselfish love, I mean, like helping someone without getting anything in return) is a minor miracle. But expecting a lot of attention from others is like begging for disappointment. It’s really lame.

So seeking happiness sucks. If I’m happy, I’ll thank God for it and enjoy it while it lasts. I think having a purpose is more fulfilling. Sometimes having a purpose leads to happiness, and sometimes it can lead to frustration, but at least it keeps you motivated and reminds you of who you are and why you’re here.

ADAM LAMBERT AND KRIS ALLEN AT A.I. FINALE!!...

C'mon, be honest. A month ago, could you have, in your right mind, imagined this "American Idol" finale: Adam Lambert vs. ... Kris Allen?

But that's our oh-so-sweet showdown for next week at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. It will be the over-the-top, boisterous glam rock of Adam against the understated acoustic stylings of Kris. The glitz of Southern California against the down-home, no-frill charms of Arkansas. The break-out star versus the low-key underdog.

Talk about a study in contrasts. We can hardly wait!

And we think America got it right. Gokey, of course, was an early front-runner and many fans believed the judges had him ticketed for the finale. But as the season wore on, it became apparent that there were holes in his game. His performances took on a feeling of bland sameness, and when he tried to kick it up a notch a couple of weeks ago with Aerosmith's "Dream On," his ghastly shrieks had ears bleeding across America.

After we learned that 88 million people voted, and after enduring all the hometown visits and guest performances, Ryan Seacrest (aka the Angel of Death) delivered the bad news to Gokey. The Milwaukee native made his exit after reprising his rendition of Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful to Me."

Unlike Danny, Kris started off under the radar. But he built momentum as he proved to be proficient at applying intriguing twists to familiar songs. His version of Kayne West's "Heartless" on Tuesday was arguably the best performance of the night, even outshining Adam.

It's official!!,. The Rocker Adam Lambert and The Dark Horse Kris Allen are on the finale. Well actually I had a bet with my classmate on who will be on the finale, He predicted that it'll be Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey. My bet was Adam Lambert and Kris Allen (I won!,.hahaha). I think, Kris Allen is better than Gokey, Allen is more current he knows how to 'own' a song. His interpretations were so distinct, I really think that he deserves to be in the finale. Well sorry to Lambert's fans but i'm really rooting for kris allen..hahaha..
Can't wait to see who will be the next AMERICAN IDOL..

LONG TIME NO POST...

My gosh,. it's been three days since I've posted my last entry. Well, anyways,. at least I'm back,. still nothing to say,.hahaha,.(just kidding),.

XOXO ANYONE??...

What xoxo means??..

Hugs and Kisses

However, it is often disputed which letter means hugs and which one means kisses. Some think that the X represents lips, while the O represents the arms of a hug, and some think that the O represents puckered lips and the X is crossed arms in a hug.

You can make your own decision for this part ;)

SWINE FLUE 101...

What is H1N1 flu?
H1N1 Influenza (H1N1 flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get H1N1 flu, but human infections can and do happen.

What are the signs and symptoms of H1N1 flu in people?
The symptoms of H1N1 flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with H1N1 flu.

How does H1N1 flu spread? Spread of this H1N1 influenza A (H1N1) virus is thought to be happening in the same way that seasonal flu spreads. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

What can I do to protect myself from getting sick? There is no vaccine available right now to protect against H1N1 flu. There are everyday actions that can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza.

Take these everyday steps to protect your health:

* Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
* Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
* Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
* If you get sick with influenza, the CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

What is the best technique for washing my hands to avoid getting the flu? Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. Wash with soap and water or clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner. We recommend that when you wash your hands -- with soap and warm water -- that you wash for 15 to 20 seconds. When soap and water are not available, alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or gel sanitizers may be used.

What should I do if I get sick? If you become ill and experience any of the following warning signs, seek emergency medical care.

In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

* Fast breathing or trouble breathing
* Bluish skin color
* Not drinking enough fluids
* Not waking up or not interacting
* Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
* Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
* Fever with a rash

In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

* Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
* Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
* Sudden dizziness
* Confusion
* Severe or persistent vomiting

Can I get H1N1 influenza from eating or preparing pork?
No. H1N1 influenza viruses are not spread by food. You cannot get H1N1 influenza from eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled and cooked pork products is safe.

AFRAID OF CRITICISM???...

Sweetness can cause sickness. Praise is sweet, but too much of it can cause one to be sick. Criticism can be likea bitter pill or a painful injection. It is unpleasant surely, but it can do us good. Remember that no one can really be free from it, not even great people. Criticism is futile because it puts us on the defensive and usually makes us strive to defend ourselves. But then, criticism is dangerous because it wounds our precious pride, hurts our sense of importance and arouses our resentment. But there is a constructive side to criticism. We should listen to criticism, especially if they are constructive, and welcomethe opportunity for self improvement. We should restrain our ego and not harbour hatred against the critic. We must not be quick to label those who do not share our views as our enemies. Not all who criticise us are our enemies. Therefore, adopt a positive attitude and listen intently to the messages of the criticism.

THE REAL ME...

what ‘Marinel’ means:

You Are Powerful and Determined

name.gif

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.

You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.

You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.

You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.

Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

MANNY the PACMAN

I woke up around 1pm today to hear my family and neighbors celebrating the victory of Manny Pacquiao. and oh, I cheked my cp to see that all my messages was about the fight of Manny Pacquiao. I hate the tv coverage here, It's so late and sooo many commercials. I just watched his fight with Ricky Hatton. I think that hatton is a good fighter but manny is way better than him. I can't believe that the fight just lasted in 2 rounds. I saw Manny's winning left straight ( is that what you call it?.. ohh never mind..), anyways in that last ten seconds of round two Manny just did his left punch and boom!!.. Hatton is down. It's so amazing how that punch just sent hatton down for a minute or so, he didn't got up right away after the punch so that must have hurt sooo bad. I actually pity Hatto after the fight. He looks like dizzy and all, i can't even tell what he's feeling at that moment. Well that's boxing you never know what will be the result. anyways.. Congrats to Manny Paquiao.. and to all the Filipinos... WE DID IT AGAIN!!...
